Life Karate Kyokushin Club
1. General
1.1. These Terms and Conditions govern the use of services provided by Life Karate Kyokushin Club, (“we”, “us”, “our”).
1.2. By attending our classes, making a booking, or paying any fees, you (“you”, “student”, “member”) agree to be bound by these Terms and Conditions.
1.3. These Terms and Conditions apply to all adult group classes and related activities organised by Life Karate Kyokushin Club.
2. Services
2.1. We provide group karate training for adults only.
2.2. Classes take place at the locations, on the days, and at the times published on our website or otherwise communicated to you.
2.3. We reserve the right to change class times, locations, instructors, or formats where reasonably necessary. We will give reasonable notice of such changes where possible.
3. Free Trial Lesson
3.1. Each new student is entitled to one free trial lesson, subject to availability and our approval.
3.2. We may refuse a free trial lesson at our discretion, for example if a person has previously attended a free trial.
4. Fees and Payment
4.1. After the free trial lesson, the first month of training is charged at the introductory rate of £25 per hour-class.
4.2. After the first month, training is charged as a monthly fee of £80. This monthly fee usually covers approximately 8–9 group classes per month, but the exact number may vary depending on the calendar and holidays.
4.3. All fees are payable in advance of the classes to which they relate. Your place in classes is not confirmed until payment is received.
4.4. Payments are non‑refundable. You are responsible for attending classes during the period you have paid for.
4.5. We do not provide refunds or credits if you miss or cancel classes for personal reasons (including illness, travel, or change of schedule).
4.6. If a class is cancelled by us (for example due to instructor illness or venue unavailability), the value of that class will be deducted from the following month’s fee or otherwise credited to you.
5. Membership Fees to Federations
5.1. Life Karate Kyokushin Club is a member of the relevant Japanese and So-Kyokushin United Kingdom (as listed on our website).
5.2. Federation membership fees are separate from our training fees and must be paid in addition to any class or monthly fees.
5.3. On joining the federation, you must pay a membership fee of £55 (once).
5.4. The annual federation membership renewal fee is £35.
5.5. Fees for competitions, gradings / graduations (belt tests), and other federation‑run events are also separate and must be paid additionally as required by the federations.
5.6. We are not responsible for federation decisions regarding membership, grading, or competition eligibility.
6. Health, Fitness and Safety
6.1. Karate is a physical, contact martial art and carries a risk of injury. By participating in our classes, you accept this risk.
6.2. You must inform us before starting training of any medical conditions, injuries, limitations, or other health issues that may affect your ability to participate safely.
6.3. You are responsible for consulting your doctor before starting training if you have any health concerns.
6.4. You agree to train within your own limits, follow the instructor’s directions, and use protective equipment where required.
6.5. We are not liable for injuries or health issues arising from your failure to disclose relevant medical information or from ignoring professional medical advice.
7. Right to Refuse Participation
7.1. We reserve the right, at our sole discretion, to refuse or terminate your participation in any class or in the club, including but not limited to situations where:

you fail to follow safety instructions;

your behaviour is unsafe, aggressive, or disruptive;

you are under the influence of alcohol or drugs;

you pose a risk to yourself or others.
7.2. If we permanently terminate your membership due to serious misconduct or safety concerns, no refund will be given for any remaining period of fees already paid.
8. Attendance and Conduct
8.1. You are expected to arrive on time and behave respectfully towards instructors and other students.
8.2. You must wear appropriate training clothing and, where required, protective equipment.
8.3. You must follow dojo etiquette and rules explained by the instructor.
9. Photography, Video and Intellectual Property
9.1. From time to time, we may take photographs and video recordings during classes, seminars, gradings, or events for teaching, promotional, and archival purposes.
9.2. By attending our classes and events, you consent to being photographed or recorded, unless you explicitly inform us in writing in advance that you do not agree.
9.3. All photos, videos, logos, texts, and other materials created by or for Life Karate Kyokushin Club are the intellectual property of Life Karate Kyokushin Club.
9.4. You may not copy, reproduce, distribute, or use our photos, videos, or other content for commercial purposes without our prior written permission.
9.5. We may use photos and videos featuring you on our website, social media, and promotional materials. If you withdraw your consent later, we will stop using your image in future materials where reasonably possible, but we cannot remove materials already published or printed.
10. Limitation of Liability
10.1. Nothing in these Terms and Conditions limits or excludes any liability which cannot be limited or excluded under UK law (including liability for death or personal injury caused by our negligence).
10.2. Subject to clause 10.1, we are not liable for:

any indirect, consequential, or purely economic loss;

loss of personal property brought to classes;

injuries arising from your failure to follow instructions or disclose relevant medical information.
10.3. Our total liability to you for any claim arising out of or in connection with our services shall not exceed the total amount of fees paid by you to us in the 12 months preceding the event giving rise to the claim.
11. Data Protection
11.1. We process your personal data in accordance with UK data protection law.
11.2. Details of how we collect, use, and store your personal data are set out in our Privacy Policy and Cookie Policy, available on our website.
11.3. By joining our club and using our website, you acknowledge that you have read and understood our Privacy Policy and Cookie Policy.
12. Changes to Terms and Conditions
12.1. We may update these Terms and Conditions from time to time.
12.2. The most current version will always be available on our website.
12.3. Continued attendance at classes after changes have been published will be treated as acceptance of the updated Terms and Conditions.
13. Governing Law and Jurisdiction
13.1. These Terms and Conditions are governed by the laws of England and Wales.
13.2. Any disputes arising out of or in connection with these Terms and Conditions shall be subject to the exclusive jurisdiction of the courts of England and Wales.
